The show Home Improvement often featured

Tim and Wilson chatting by their shared fence. Would the appeal have been the same if that fence had been a group of beautiful shrubs? We think so! Shrubs are great for a number of reasons, and Wheeler Gardens has a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors to accommodate your landscaping needs.

Shrubs bring a natural element to your property that can’t be achieved through man-made products. They can help you feel a sense of tranquility while simultaneously providing privacy. Furthermore, they provide a sound barrier that blocks noise coming from pesky neighbors and passing traffic.

Your “green-thumb” might be less than satisfactory, but that’s okay when it comes to planting shrubs. These kinds of plants do great in less than ideal environments. Shrubs thrive when there is poor soil, steep grades, and even extreme shade.

Shrubs might thrive in poor environments, but they do require a bit of maintenance. Regular pruning of your shrubs is important if you don’t want them to grow out of control. Having a tall pine tree in your backyard looks great, but a fifteen-foot shrub probably is not going to have the same appeal.

Choosing to accentuate your lawn with various shrubs is also wonderful because they are great for the environment. They improve air quality by filtering the air we breathe and absorbing pollutants such as ozone, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide.

Shrubs can also attract wildlife such as birds and butterflies and can add natural beauty to any space. Not to mention, some shrubs even give off a pleasant fragrance!

At Wheeler Gardens, we provide shrubs that make your yard look great while benefiting you and the surrounding environment. Give us a call today at (417) 890-5733, or visit one of our Missouri garden center locations!
